A place of elegance and simplicity

The Underground is a preferred location in downtown Zionsville. The space is beautiful as is, but its neutral finishes offer a blank canvas that’s perfect for infusing your personalization. You really can “keep it simple” or ask your party planner to “go to town.”

Any licensed caterer is welcome!

Licensed bar service needed

Guests cannot provide their own alcohol at ZU. If you plan to serve alcohol of any kind, a licensed/permitted caterer or bar service must be used. Beverage service varies widely depending on customer’s needs and event size. If you need beverage service only, we have a list of preferred vendors.

How a brightly colored basement became a versatile Venue

The Carter Building was once the home of the late Robert Carter’s antique store and toy museum. After Mr. Carter’s passing, the building sat vacant for five years until it was purchased by the Price family, long-time residents of Zionsville. The question was, what do you do with a brightly painted basement that once dazzled children with bumper cars and penny rides? What’s missing in the community that this space could offer? An event center. The basement was renovated into an elegant space.

Zionsville is proud of its history. While the Carter Building is not old, it holds special and noteworthy features. Many of the stained glass windows are original creations of Mr. Carter. One of the glass windows now hangs behind the bar in the Underground, which also houses the original soda fountain/bar.

Because of this transformation, Zionsville community members can gather for any occasion in this unique, local event space.
